Clinica Implantoprotesica
La colossale propaganda commerciale intorno agli impianti dentali, promossa ad esclusivo vantaggio delle Ditte che li commercializzano, sta screditando altre tecniche implantoprotesiche spesso altrettanto valide e certamente meno invasive. Chiariremo, nel rispetto della verità e con la dovuta serietà scientifica, come esistano migliaia di impianti a vite, a lama, ad aghi saldati, a perno e compositi, con moncone fisso o avvitabile, singoli, multipli o misti, che compiono la loro funzione di pilastri protesici, perfettamente osteointegrati e senza alcuna recessione dei tessuti includenti, da molto più tempo di quelli che sono presentati come “novità” attuali. Questo libro è stato scritto per rendere giustizia a tutti coloro che contribuirono all’evoluzione dell’implantoprotesi dalle origini ai risultati attuali. Di ogni metodica daremo informazioni utili, fornendo di volta in volta giudizi, riserve e consigli. Inizieremo con la storia dei primi tentativi d’impianto, raccontata, fin dove sarà possibile, con le stesse parole e l’entusiasmo dei singoli Autori che si alternarono nel lungo cammino del progresso. Proseguiremo con la descrizione dettagliata e critica di tutte le tecniche implantoprotesiche moderne, con l’analisi delle loro cause di successo o di insuccesso, partendo da un punto di vista più completo, sottolineando cioè che chi si accinge a riabilitare una zona edentula dovrebbe conoscere perfettamente anche le cause che la resero tale, perché solo così sarà possibile evitare gli stessi errori mettendo in pericolo il successo finale. Ci riferiamo soprattutto alle cause legate ad alterazioni dell’occlusione statica o dinamica, ricordando che l’inserimento dell’impianto è solo la prima fase della riabilitazione che sarà completata dalla funzionalizzazione protesica. La fondamentale importanza di questi concetti per la durata nel tempo degli impianti fu l’origine del precedente volume Le patologie occlusali. Eziopatogenesi e terapia, che consideriamo indispensabile premessa di questo libro. Terminiamo con un pensiero riconoscente alla Clinica Odontoiatrica dell’Università di Modena (oggi di Modena e Reggio Emilia) che ha sostenuto per tanti anni le nostre opinioni in un lungo, difficile e pur sempre entusiasmante cammino, compiuto insieme a tanti altri Colleghi conosciuti e sconosciuti, verso la soluzione di un problema secolare, di cui forse oggi stiamo assistendo alla conclusione.
